We flew into Abuja this morning from Lagos. We were to travel to Kogi State, but were informed on landing, at the Abuja airport, about the postponement of the PDP campaign flag-off. This is not the wahala.
The wahala in question is the fact that it took Mr. Peter Obi extra 30 minutes to leave the airport as many people struggled to take pictures with him. This is a daily occurrence whenever we travel or attend events.
As a grassroots person, I am aware that when people of his status are encountered by Nigerians, the normal emotion is that of anger. Nigerians take them as part of the country’s mounting problems.
Seeking an explanation for this, I reasoned it could be because he moves freely without security. It could be because he is loved and valued because of what he did in Anambra State. In fact, this morning, one person from Anambra, after his own photo session, thanked him for what he called wonderful network of road and the gargantuan money he left”. Nigerians take him as the central star, in whose presence other stars lose their scintillating brilliance.
Since what I have suggested are surmises, I trust others can venture their own explanations.
